Born in 1990, Luke Micallef is a teacher by profession. He graduated with a B.Ed. (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2013 and went on to complete postgraduate studies, earning a master’s degree in Maltese Studies in 2018.
Micallef embarked on a study on Maltese family nicknames and, in 2019, published his findings in The Maltese Laqam – Rabat’s Perspective. This work examines in depth the origins and development of these nicknames, with the town of Rabat as the primary case study.
Apart from studying family nicknames, Micallef also contributed to other aspects of local history, writing various articles on local football history and Maltese industry.
